Deep Patagonia
From Cochrane to Villa O'Higgins. Life doesn't move according to our plans... it simply goes much better! As a wanderluster I do my best to always be open to last minute changes and plan as little as possible. It's good to plan in order to have a general idea of where we want to go, what we can see, do, photograph, experiment, but plans can change and life take us to a whole new (unplanned) experience. We didn't know how we could go from Cochrane - Argentina to Villa O'Higgins where we would take the ferry to cross lake O'Higgins and re-enter Chile. We weren't even planning to stay in Cochrane... When we got there I realised I had left a battery charging back at Patagonia's Future National Park where we had been camping. I had to wait for the next transport from the Park to Cochrane. I called the Park, explained the situation and they promptly offered to bring the battery the next day - it would get there after lunch. That night we decided to play safe and buy the tickets for the next day as we were still a long way from Ushuaia... We bought the tickets from a guy that we named "the Padrino". He was the owner of the company, the bus driver (as we would later find out) and also the owner of a small house with old video games, slot machines, etc. What are we getting into this time, we asked each other laughingly. Cochrane. What a dazzling little town! What a surprise! Two and a half days later - yes, we decided to stay another day - we took the bus to Villa O'Higgins (where life would play us another test...) One last curiosity: "The Indian Head", a rock formation that resembles the shape of a human head. I found a few studies about these formations as I've come across several other rock formations that resemble humans. Things are what they are, despite what we think or say about them. Nature talks to us, and there's so much we can learn from Nature!
